Dahlia Tuber Purchase Policy

Thank you so much for supporting our small farm—we truly appreciate you! Your happiness matters to us, and we want you to feel confident purchasing from us. Please read through our tuber policy carefully before ordering.

🌸 Tuber Guarantee

Dahlia tubers are sold individually. We guarantee that all dahlia tubers are true to variety & arrive with at least one visible eye. Please open and inspect your order immediately upon delivery. If you have any concerns, contact us at emptypocketsfarm05@gmail.com within 5 days of delivery. 

📦 Refunds & Returns

If a tuber arrives in poor condition or blind you may request a refund within 5 days of delivery. Important details:

The 5 day window starts when USPS marks the package as delivered, not when you open it. We strongly recommend opening your package as soon as it arrives and inspecting.

After you contact us, we’ll email you back the next steps. You’ll repackage and return the tuber. Once we receive the returned tuber, your refund will be issued. (we do not cover the shipping)

If we experience stock loss between the time the order is placed and when it ships, and we are unable to fulfill your order, you’ll be notified by email and refunded accordingly.

🚫 After 5 days from delivery, all sales are final. No refunds or replacements will be offered after that point. What we do not refund or replace after the initial 5 day window, tubers that:

  • Shrivel, rot, or die before planting
  • Rot or die in the ground
  • Fail to sprout
  • Grow stunted
  • Do not bloom
  • Show disease/virus symptoms

⚠️ Cancellations and Substitution - All dahlia sales are final. We are not able to change, substitute, or cancel an order once you checkout. Please double check your order before completing your purchase.

If purchasing ‘Super Ugly Tuber’ there is no refund/returns for them. 

🚚 Shipping & Local Pickup

Loss or Damage - We do not offer automatic refunds or replacements for orders lost or damaged during shipping. Email and we'll discuss.

Shipping will start in April, weather permitting.

A flat $15 shipping fee applies to all orders. 

Orders over $200 or more ship for free.

All orders are shipped via USPS Priority Mail (within USA)

Local Pick up - if you select farm pick up you will receive an email later on detailing pick up dates. Pick up will take place in April at our farm stand.

🌼 Mislabels

If your dahlia blooms and is not the variety you ordered, please email us with:

  • Photos of the bloom
  • A copy of your order

Claims must be submitted by September 30 of the same year of purchase. We’ll do our best to make it right!

🦠 Virus Policy (+sanitization protocol)

By purchasing from us, you acknowledge that:

  • Plant viruses exist and are not 100% avoidable
  • Dahlias are grown in non-sterile, outdoor environments
  • Viruses can be spread by insects
  • We do not offer refunds for virus.

That said: (in our field)

  • Plants showing persistent virus symptoms are culled
  • Stunted or unhealthy plants with no clear viral patterns are also removed, after giving fertilizer and seeing no visible changes
  • We regularly sanitize cutting tools between plants
  • Tools are sanitized between each clump during dividing

U-pick visitors are not allowed to cut dahlias

📸 Social Media Notice

Posting photos of your tubers and questioning it on social media before contacting us will void any refund request. If you have concerns, please contact us directly by email. We’re always happy to review photos and help!

🥔 Small, Ugly, & Dormant Tubers

Let’s be honest—tubers are ugly. They grow underground and may be:

Wrinkly, smooth, twisty, soft, firm, stained, scarred, peeling, or the end-cut.

Tubers are at least the size of an AA battery (unless specified)

As long as a tuber has an eye, intact neck, and body, it can grow a full plant

Small tubers grow just as well as large ones

Large tubers are cut down for shipping—this does not affect growth

Some tubers may have tape around the neck, this is to make sure it doesn’t get damaged in shipping. (Do not remove tape, it will not affect growth)

‘Super Ugly Tubers’ - will be listed under the variety under drop down purchase bar. These tubers are viable just super ugly and come with no return/refund.

Please don’t purchase if you’re uncomfortable with smaller and ugly tubers.
